Why is the PAL (50Hz) SDI input very poor?
Answer
Firmware versions 90 and lower do not properly detect a PAL SDI input and instead assume the input is NTSC (60Hz).

This results in the scaler wrongly de-interlacing the signal and also causes clipping of the lower part of it. This appears on screen as a very poor image.

Versions 92 and above have an NTSC/PAL selection option within the "Setup Program source" menu when SDI is used as the Program source. When set to PAL, the PAL SDI signal will be properly decoded. See C2-4000 & C2-5000 series firmware updates.
