What are the fault codes?
Answer
If the scaler finds a hardware or software problem, it will report a 4-digit hexadecimal number on-screen for around 10 seconds - and emit continuous beeps. Upto 3 such 4-digit numbers may appear, if more than one fault occurs. It is important to note down these codes if reporting a problem to Technical Support.

After 10 seconds, the unit will shut-down, continuing to beep.

If you get any of the following codes, then please contact our support desk for advice using the links above.

The codes have the following meanings (not all units support all codes):

0050 Main air inlet (ambient) temperature too low
0051 Main air inlet (ambient) temperature too high
0061 Regulator temperature too high
0071 PSU area temperature too high
0081 FPGA temperature too high
0090 FPGA configuration error
00A0 Flash memory (1) communication problem
00A1 Flash memory (2) communication problem
00A2 Flash memory communication clash
00B0 Fan speed too low (or has stopped)
00B1 Fan speed too high
00C0 Flash memory page boundary error
00D0 Control data block from front panel corruption
00D1 Scaler data block from main board corruption

9000 I2C 'STOP' error, lower byte indicates I2C address
9100 I2C 'STOP' error, lower byte indicates I2C data
Cxxx I2C write failure - see below for remainder of code
Dxxx I2C read failure - see below for remainder of code

(For C2-8000, I2C read/write failure second digit indicates which module had the error.)

I2C error lower 3 digits:
x030 Temperature measurement chip I2C communications error
x040 CV1/YC1 input chip I2C communications error
x042 CV2/YC2 input chip I2C communications error
x054 CV2/YC2 output chip I2C communications error
x056 CV1/YC1 output chip I2C communications error
x070 DVI output chip I2C communications error
x072 DVI output chip I2C communications error
x076 DVI output chip I2C communications error
x088 CV1/YC1 output chip I2C communications error
x08A CV2/YC2 output chip I2C communications error
x098 DVI/RGB2 or DVI/RGB1* input chip I2C communications error
x09A DVI/RGB1 input chip I2C communications error
x140 CV3/YC3 input chip I2C communications error
x154 CV2/YC2 output chip I2C communications error
x198 DVI/RGB3* input chip I2C communications error
x19A DVI/RGB3 input chip I2C communications error
x498 DVI/RGB2* input chip I2C communications error

*For AD9880 'K' release only.
